What are cookies?

Cookies can be first-party (set by bwcreative.org directly) or third-party (set by external services embedded in the site, such as Google and Meta). They can also be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a defined period).

Why we use these cookies
Google Analytics (GA4). We use GA4 to understand how visitors find and use bwcreative.org, including which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and where traffic originates. This helps us improve the site and our marketing. Data is processed by Google LLC and may be stored on servers in the United States. Google's data processing terms apply: business.safety.google/dataprocessingterms.
Meta Pixel. We use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of any advertising we run on Facebook and Instagram, and to understand actions taken on this site. Data is processed by Meta Platforms, Inc. Meta's data policy applies: facebook.com/privacy/policy. You can opt out of Meta's use of cookies for advertising at facebook.com/adpreferences.
Your choices & how to opt out
You have several options for controlling how cookies are used on your device:
- Browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking all cookies may affect site functionality. See your browser's help documentation for instructions.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent GA from collecting data about your visits.
- Meta advertising preferences. Manage how Meta uses your data for ads at facebook.com/adpreferences or via the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out at optout.aboutads.info.
- Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. This site does not currently respond to DNT signals, as there is no consistent industry standard for doing so.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser broadcasts a GPC signal, we note this as an indication of your privacy preferences. Under CCPA/CPRA, businesses that "sell" or "share" personal data must honor GPC. We do not sell personal data.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal basis for using non-essential cookies (analytics and marketing) is your consent, as required under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive. Strictly necessary cookies are processed on the basis of legitimate interest to deliver the service you requested.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by clearing cookies in your browser settings. Note that withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Analytics and marketing cookies require opt-in consent under GDPR before they are set. If you are located in the EEA and have concerns about our compliance, please contact us.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

- Right to delete personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

International data transfers
Both Google Analytics and Meta Pixel transfer data to servers in the United States. If you are located outside the US, particularly in the EEA, your data may be subject to US law, which may provide different protections than those in your jurisdiction. Google and Meta each maintain Standard Contractual Clauses and other transfer mechanisms as required by applicable law.
Data retention
Cookie data retained by Google Analytics is stored for the period set in our GA4 property (default: 14 months). Meta Pixel data retention is governed by Meta's own policies. Our first-party consent cookie (bw-cookie-ok) persists in your browser's localStorage until you clear it manually.
Third-party links
This site links to third-party websites (including social media platforms and booking tools). Those sites have their own cookie and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
